Officer Aaron Thompson
Officer Aaron Thompson joined the Sacramento Police Department in 1995. During Officer Thompson’s first three years of service, he worked the graveyard shift in North Sacramento and was a Field Training Officer. Ofc. Thompson was selected for POP (Problem Oriented Policing Team) in 2000 addressing problems in Del Paso Heights and nearby neighborhoods. In addition to being a POP officer, Ofc. Thompson also was a member of the Rifle Team.
In 2002, Ofc. Thompson returned to patrol as a Field Training Officer working dayshift in North Sacramento.
In August of 2005, Ofc. Thompson transferred to the K9 Unit. After a tedious selection process, Ofc. Thompson was joined with his K9 partner “Hutch”. Hutch is a 3 year old, 85 pound black and tan German Shepherd from Czechoslovakia. After 4 months of intense training, Ofc. Thompson and K9 Hutch certified as a K9 team and hit the streets. K9 Hutch has been in service for a little over a year and has assisted in taking numerous suspects off the street and protecting our community.
Officer Aaron Thompson and Hutch have been generously sponsored by Raleys and the Milk-Bone company.
